About me
I'm 28 years old and a mum to two boys. Amy's Homestead originally began as a small hobby with a few chickens in my backyard, but over time it grew into something much more meaningful. What started as caring for animals slowly became a passion for slower living — and finding ways to bring that lifestyle into suburban life in a realistic, maintainable way.
Over the years I developed a deep love for nature, animals, and outdoor experiences. I began horsemanship lessons almost a year ago and have met many incredible people along the way. I also do archery, and have a strong passion for hiking — over 40 solo hikes across Australia and internationally, including New Zealand and Norway.
Some of my favourite hikes so far have been Roys Peak Track and Mount Kosciuszko, Australia's tallest summit, along with the trails around Tromsø, Norway. I hope to keep challenging myself with taller summits around the world — my bucket-list hikes are in Norway, Guatemala, Nepal, Japan and Italy.
I strongly believe there's a powerful connection between therapy, nature, and animals — experiences that can help people reconnect with themselves and find a sense of peace, confidence, and grounding.
I'm currently completing a Master of Counselling and hold a Bachelor of Social Science majoring in Psychology, Child and Community. I also have experience in youth and community work, something I'm deeply passionate about. The outings and experiences I offer through Amy's Homestead are designed to bridge the gap between wellbeing, nature, and connection in an approachable, genuine way.
Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I currently care for and love over 50 animals, many of which were rescue or unwanted animals given a second chance at the homestead. Animal care and ethical treatment are values that matter deeply to me.
I also enjoy baking bread and learning more about traditional homesteading practices. One of the things I love most is the balance and connection between people, animals, and the land — the “give and take” of caring for animals: keeping chickens and receiving fresh eggs in return, or keeping ducks and using their natural fertiliser to nourish the garden.
Photography is another hobby I love, especially capturing nature, animals, travel, and meaningful moments along the journey. I genuinely enjoy keeping busy, learning new things, meeting people in the community, and building connections through shared interests and experiences.
For me, homesteading isn't about perfection or being overly strict. It's about creating a lifestyle that is intentional, achievable, and full of connection — even within a residential setting — while working towards the bigger dream of expanding into a larger community farm one day.
I'm still on this journey of growth, learning, and self-discovery, and I'm incredibly grateful for the support and encouragement this community has shown me so far. I can't wait to see what the future holds for Amy's Homestead. ♡
The bigger picture
Amy's Homestead is more than just animals or produce. It's a long-term vision for a community farm that the community can access, connect with, and feel a sense of belonging in. The dream is to eventually create a space where families, women, mothers, and youth can experience homesteading for themselves — collecting fresh eggs, accessing produce, caring for animals, learning practical skills, and reconnecting with nature in a realistic and meaningful way.
The vision is a welcoming environment filled with learning opportunities, outdoor experiences, and fun community activities such as archery fields, equine learning, gardening, animal interaction, hiking-style outings, and hands-on homesteading experiences for both children and adults.
At its heart is a strong focus on supporting mothers' mental health and creating meaningful, positive spaces for young people. In a world where many youth feel disconnected, the goal is to encourage connection through nature, animals, movement, community, and practical experiences that keep them engaged in healthy and fulfilling ways.
A second chance
One of the biggest values behind Amy's Homestead is giving animals a second chance. Since launching, many of the animals welcomed into the homestead have been rescue animals, unwanted animals, or animals needing a safer environment.
We aim to create a space where animals are treated with patience, care, and compassion — while also teaching children and the community the importance of empathy, responsibility, and ethical animal care.
The homestead is passionate about showing that every animal has value and deserves kindness. Many of the experiences we offer are designed not only to connect people with animals, but also to build understanding around gentle handling, respect for animals, and the emotional connection that can form through caring for them.
As Amy's Homestead continues to grow, rescuing and caring for animals in need will always remain an important part of the vision.

Session disclaimer
Our Mums & Bubs and Homestead Sessions are held in a residential backyard setting rather than a large farm environment. This is an intentional choice to create a calm, welcoming space for children and families, helping reduce overstimulation that can sometimes come with larger animals and busier environments.
It also allows sessions to be more accessible for the community — making regular participation easier for families without the need to travel long distances to a farm setting each week. We wanted to create a space that feels local, relaxed, and easy to be part of.
All sessions are designed with connection, comfort, and safety in mind. As this is a home-based environment with animals present, parents and caregivers remain responsible for supervising children at all times. Safety guidelines will be provided during sessions to ensure a positive experience for everyone. ♡

From our mums
What started as simply buying fresh eggs has turned into something so much lovelier — Amy is one of the kindest, most genuine people you'll come across. Her eggs are absolutely beautiful: fresh, delicious, and you can genuinely tell they come from happy, well-cared-for chickens. She's such a sweet soul, and supporting a local family who puts real care into what they do feels extra special. We're very lucky to have her nearby!
My daughter still talks about feeding the ducklings. Worth every dollar for the giggles alone.
The ghee changed our kitchen. Amy wraps every order like it's a present from a friend.
We booked the Walk n Talk for a birthday and didn't want it to end. Honest, slow, lovely.
